A Brief History of the Woodbury Heights Fire Department

The Woodbury Heights Fire Department was established on March 25, 1911 as a fire association and incorporated in that year. Two hand drawn soda and acid chemical tanks were purchased. One was kept in the old Borough Hall and one in a building owned by S.M. Snook.

On February 5, 1918, the Borough Council passed a resolution making the fire
association the official Fire Company of the Community.

The Fire house was built in 1924, about the same time the company obtained it’s first motorized piece of equipment. An addition was made to the rear of the firehouse in the early 1930’s. In 1949, a two-story cupola was removed.
A one-story wing was added in 1951 to provide space for a third piece of equipment. In the 1960’s an addition was added to hold modern day apparatus.

In 2003, a portion of the building was removed. The area that remained was converted into a landscaped patio in 2004.

In 2007 the building received a fresh coat of paint and a new upgraded exhaust system for the housed apparatus.
